Organizing Director
Position Summary
The No on Initiative 2117 (I-2117) campaign is seeking an experienced and motivated organizing director to lead a nationally significant campaign to defend Washington state’s leading-edge climate policy. The campaign is supported by environmental and business leaders, labor unions and environmental justice advocates, Tribal Nations, and many others.
The organizing director will be responsible for evolving and executing a robust organizing plan, as well as managing a team of organizers and working closely with an extensive and diverse coalition, and ensuring the organizing team is achieving its goals. This position will report to the campaign manager.
This position will require campaign hours, including evening and weekends, and is based in Washington state. Travel around the state will be required.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement a statewide field plan that includes both relational and traditional organizing tactics
- Recruit, train, and manage organizers
- Develop and implement metrics and systems of accountability for staff and volunteers
- Work closely with the outreach team to recruit and train volunteers from our broad coalition of supporting organizations
- Collaborate with organizing teams from partner campaigns and coordinated campaign offices
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders
- Analyze data to track progress in voter contact universes and make data-informed decisions for the program
- Leverage innovative voter contact tools and integrate them into the field plan
- Oversee the organizing budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to achieve campaign goals
- Plan and execute campaign events, rallies, and other grassroots activities to build momentum and visibility for the campaign
- Additional duties as assigned
What You Bring
Qualified candidates must be highly organized, able to multitask and manage multiple deadlines, and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
An ideal organizing director candidate will have:
- 2-3 cycles of campaign organizing experience, with at least 1 in a management role
- Both traditional and relational organizing experience
- Proficiency in NGPVAN and familiarity with other campaign software (Google Suite, Mobilize, texting platforms, Every Action, Action Network, relational organizing apps, etc.)
- Quick problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset
- A growth mindset and ability to take and implement feedback
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once and keep calm in stressful situations
- Willingness/eagerness to get creative and try new approaches and tactics to reach and connect with voters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Reliable transportation for travel around the state
- Fluency in English and Spanish (not a requirement)
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $6,000 to $8,000 per month
Benefits: Health care and paid sick leave. Additional incentives and benefits may be available.
