Campaign to Defeat I-2117 Releases Spanish-Language Ad, “Familias Seguras,” Highlighting Harm of I-2117 to Families
Ad Airing in the Yakima-Tri-Cities Market Shows I-2117 Will Worsen Traffic by Cutting Transportation Investments, Threaten Health
September 24, 2024 – No on 2117 is airing a Spanish-language ad highlighting the impacts of I-2117 on families, including cuts to transportation that would worsen traffic and allowing more pollution that threatens health.
The ad features Tatiana, a young mother, and is airing in the Yakima-Tri-Cities market. The No on 2117 campaign is also airing “Snail” in the Seattle market and “At Risk” and “Your Child” in the Spokane, Yakima-Tri-Cities, and Southwest Washington markets.
If passed, I-2117 would cut billions in investments in transportation — slashing transit and putting road and bridge projects at risk — as well as in the air quality, renewable energy, grid modernization, forest health and wildfire prevention, and fish habitat and salmon recovery sector.
A new study also found that I-2117 would cost 45,000 jobs across Washington state, with the state’s construction workforce the most negatively impacted by I-2117, closely followed by jobs in the transportation, agriculture, fish, and forestry sectors.
Nearly 500 organizations and Tribal Nations have endorsed the No on 2117 campaign, including firefighters, small businesses, Tribal Nations, doctors, nurses, and public health leaders, labor unions, environmental groups, and community organizations.
